To clone as many disease resistance (R) genes as possible in wild barley, we are utilizing the protocol of AgRenSeq (Arora et al. 2019) on a subset (N=203) of the WBDC. AgRenSeq, as the moniker implies, couples association genetics with RenSeq and can greatly hasten R-gene cloning from plants because it targets not just one gene as in most cloning projects, but potentially a large portion of the NLR complement (i.e. genes with nucleotide binding and leucine rich repeat domains) of a germplasm panel.
